Essen Zollverein / Red Dot Museum

On Thursday we went to Germany to visit Essen Zollverein and the Red Dot Museum. In the early morning we took the train direction Essen Haubtbahnhof. First we visit the Ruhr Museum. It was a real museum with things installed behind glass, but I could’t feel the real history of it. Soon, my interest decreased in everything that was displayed. I took some pictures of the mythes we had to visualize and hoped I saw more historic details. I have seen so many things from different times and subjects that I can’t remember what I’ve seen.

I thought we got a tour trough the Red Dot museum. But the school had a wrong reservation so we actually had booked for a tour that brings us in the area that was not public. The tour took all of my energy because the guide gave us so many information about the specific area that I couldn’t focus anymore.

The areas of the mineshaft was better than the museum. But even there I missed the whole experience. I compared this visit with an other kind of tour that I did in England (Dover Castle) where I got that experience from the past. But maybe it depends of the guide, because I heart from the other group that they had a nice tour anyway.

We still had two hours left to visit the RedDot museum. It was nice to see it, but there was a lot of information that passed me. I saw some good improvements on products and nice design objects. But for thinking a little further there was no energy for.

Conclusion about the whole day is dat I think we seen many things that we can connect to our theory of innovation. But in my opinion the goal of the day was a bit sketchy… so people took there own plan but beyond that I had a great day in Essen.
